Originality Is What Does It For Me

This is the first of many posts; I want to start with my favorite. Go Big or Go Home.

I have eaten all over Los Angeles the past few years. From dining in the fanciest of Beverly Hills restaurants, to Thai dives in Hollywood, to Hot Dog stands Downtown, I've seen a lot. Nothing in my mind can come close to the original flavors of Roy Choi.

I first heard about this, I think it's safe to call him, genius, a few years ago. I am sure most of you have heard of his famous food truck, Kogi. Have you had anything like it before? Have you ever experienced a restaurant run out of a truck like that before? No, no you haven't. Well maybe recently, but that's because everyone has copied him, trying to replicate his success in the food truck business. Combining his Korean BBQ and Mexican food was pretty much the greatest idea. Follow this truck on Twitter, and eat there whenever you can. Try it all: the short rib, the spicy pork, the chicken. Get it in all forms, whether it be burrito, taco, or quesedialla. Try the ever changing dessert menu. I would recommend a favorite, but I PROMISE, it's all so good.

Eat these greasy treats sitting on a curb at lunch, or late night. It just works what ever the time of day. There's eggs in the burritos so fuck it have one for breakfast too. I've seen people get 10 of them, have one that night, and freeze the rest.

Oh and is there a line? Of course there always is. That's how you know its good. Take my advice...follow the lines. There's a reason they are there.

Kogi is like the gateway drug for Roi Choi's food. They say it's not addicting, but I've seen otherwise. They say its easy to go harder from there. It's true. From there comes Chego, and then you're really in trouble!
